Emmett C. Sole, a member of the law firm Stockwell, Sievert, Viccellio, Clements & Shaddock, L.L.P. in Lake Charles is the recipient of the 2017 Louisiana Bar Foundation’s (LBF) Boisfontaine Trial Advocacy Award.
At the request of the Louisiana Legislature, the Access to Justice Commission conducted an Economic Impact and Social Return on Investment Analysis, or SROI, funded by the LBF. Nearly 40 civil legal aid organizations providing services in Louisiana participated in the analysis for fiscal year 2016.
Valerie Briggs Bargas, of Baton Rouge, was installed as the 2017-18 president of the Louisiana Bar Foundation (LBF) on Friday, April 21. Other officers are Vice President W. Michael Street of Monroe; Treasurer Amanda W. Barnett of Alexandria; and Secretary Christopher K. Ralston of New Orleans.
The Louisiana Bar Foundation (LBF) Kids’ Chance Scholarship program is awarding $59,000 in scholarships to 20 students. Scholarships are awarded to dependent children of Louisiana workers killed or permanently and totally disabled in an accident compensable under a state or federal Workers’ Compensation Act or law.
