LBF Announces 2024-25 Speak Out for Justice! Focus on Civil Legal Aid Contributor

Speak Out for Justice! Focus on Civil Legal Aid is a program of the Louisiana Bar Foundation (LBF) Education Subcommittee. The LBF simultaneously engages multiple content creators for this program seeking proposals for Public Awareness and Research. The purpose of this program is to support the LBF’s educational goals.

The Education Subcommittee has accepted a proposal from Josephine Vanderhorst. The primary goal of this project is to raise public awareness about the indispensable role civil legal aid plays in Louisiana’s child welfare system, particularly in Child In Need of Care (CINC) cases. Her project will explore the legal processes in CINC cases. She will produce a detailed article and components for a social media campaign.

Josephine Vanderhorst is an alumna of Tulane University Law School, received her bachelor’s degree from Tuskegee University and master’s degree from Argosy University. She has worked in child welfare for eight years and is certified as a Trust Based Relational Intervention practitioner.  Ms. Vanderhorst is also a 2023-24 Speak Out for Justice! Focus on civil Legal Aid contributor.
