Public Interest Attorney and Staff Supplemental Pay
In an effort to increase the number of highly-qualified attorneys and staff committed to the cause of equal justice under the law, LBF has implemented the Public Interest Attorney and Staff Supplemental Pay Program. This program provides grants supplementing the pay of full-time, non-contract staff members working at organizations receiving 2008 funding in the Legal Assistance to the Poor funding category. Because the salaries paid to legal services attorneys often fall well below those earned by prosecutors, public defenders and attorneys in private practice, the goal of this initiative is to make legal services careers more competitive.
